Obituary for Ruth Reisig

Ruth Reisig
Ruth Reisig, lifelong Scotts Bluff County resident, passed peacefully into eternity on Monday, March 28, 2016 at The Residency in Scottsbluff. A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2016 at her home church Grace Chapel (300 Valley View Drive) in Scottsbluff with Pastor Bruce Peterson and Pastor Zen Voorheis officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Viewing will be held one hour prior to service time Friday at the church. Memorials have been established to the CNAs at the Residency Care Center who lovingly cared for Ruth.

Ruth Bernice (Specht) Reisig was the first of twin daughters born to Jake and Mollie (Keller) Specht on July 4, 1927 at the family farm home south of Gering. She grew up attending schools in rural Gering and graduated from Gering High School in 1945.

She married Loyd Reisig on February 8, 1946 at Emmanuel Congregational Church in Scottsbluff. Loyd and Ruth were blessed with three sons: Roger, Steve and Monty. The family farmed in the Sunflower, Haig, Victory Hill and Scottsbluff Airport areas.

Ruth was a passionate artist whose generosity and thoughtfulness had no limit. She left a lasting impression on, and touched the hearts of, her family, friends and every person she met. She was loved and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her three sons, Roger (Cheryl K.) of Ft. Collins, CO, Steve (Lin) and Monty (Cheryl M.) of Scottsbluff; seven grandchildren, Heidi and Becky Reisig of Ft. Collins, CO, Scott (Jennifer) Reisig of Scottsbluff, Kim Simpson of Denver, CO, Jamie (Ben) Rempe of West Des Moines, IA, Justin Reisig of Gering, Jessica Reisig (Derek Dowen) of Honolulu, HI; seven great grandchildren, Faith, Katherine and Benjamin Reisig, Anna Simpson, Isabella, Charlotte and Mary Alice Rempe; three sisters, Ruby Yakel, Pat (Cork) Taylor and Violet (Merrill) Anderson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loyd; a sister, Lucille; and her brother, Harold Specht.
