Frances Tayeko Kanno, 92, of Morrill passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Torrington Community Hospital, Torrington, WY. Her funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2017 at the Jones Mortuary in Mitchell with Reverend George Kilmer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Morrill, NE. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials in Frances’s honor may be made in care of the First United Methodist Church in Morrill, the Lyman Volunteer Fire Department, or to the Friendly Circle Organization. Frances was born April 27, 1925 in Ione, CO to Keizo and Shizuno Shimizu Hatasaka. She received her education in Kumamoto, Japan. She returned to the United States and married Tucker Kanno in Scottsbluff on Feb 14, 1953 and they moved south of Morrill where they farmed and raised their family.
Frances loved gardening, canning, knitting, crocheting and watching her 2 granddaughters; Kenzey and Jayden, play basketball and volleyball. She was a member of the Friendly Circle Organization for over 50 years.
Frances is survived by her children Dennis (Leticia) Kanno, Carey (Lynne) Kanno, Karen (Ted) Trembler, and Mike (Eliasar) Kanno; granddaughters Kenzey and Jayden Kanno; brother Chimato Hatasaka; sister Nobuko (Yogi) Tanigawa; and sisters-in-law Helen Kamino and Ruth Tomoi.
Her parents; husband Tucker; brothers-in-law George Kanno, Harry Kanno, William Kanno, Hideo Kamino, and Thomas Tomoi; and sisters-in-law Mary (Ed) Yoshimira and Josie (George) Sato preceded her in death.
