Betty Lou Rangel, 73, of Scottsbluff, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at her home with her loving family by her side. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Center in Scottsbluff with Fr. Jonathan Sorensen as Celebrant. Inurnment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Visitation will be Thursday at Jolliffe Funeral Home from 4-7pm with a Rosary Service at 7pm. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Betty’s honor be made in care of Regional West Hospice. Online condolences may be left at www.jolliffefuneralhome.com.

Betty was born in Cheyenne, WY to Bernard and Madeline (Sabourin) Rider. Her father passed when she was 3, and was raised by Phillip Mosteller. She received her education up to Jr. High in Guernsey, WY, then moved to Gering to finish her schooling thru high school. She was happily married to Lawrence Rangel for 56 years. To this union, was born 3 children; Juanita, Larry, and Gene.

Betty was a wonderful cook, and cooked at various local restaurants. She loved her family and friends dearly. She enjoyed music; especially Elvis Presley. She enjoyed reading and playing cards with her sister. Her ill health forced her retirement 5 years ago from cooking at the Residency.

Betty is survived by her loving husband Larry; daughter Juanita (Ben) Rodriguez, III; grandchildren Ben Rodriguez, IV, Larry, Gene and Jarek Rangel; 7 great grandchildren; sister Karen Wheeler; and numerous brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces and extended family.

Her parents, special father Phil Mosteller, sons Larry and Longino, beloved brother Bill Rider, 2 nephews and 2 brothers in law preceded her in death.
