Wes was born April 12, 1953 to Earl and Frances (Fisher) Joy of Lyman, NE. He graduated from Lyman High School in 1971 and attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He married Jacie Larson in 1983 and welcomed Clint and Brittany as his son and daughter. Wes and Jacie later divorced. Wes married Dorothy Birch in 2012 and to this union Wes gained another daughter and son in law, Denise and Al.
